Main Article:

Avalanche has emerged as a powerhouse for institutional blockchain adoption, particularly in real-world asset (RWA) tokenization. In Q4 2025, the total value locked (TVL) in RWAs on the Avalanche network soared to over $1.3 billion, marking a staggering 950% annual increase. This explosive growth was fueled by landmark partnerships, most notably the $500 million BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL). Further momentum came from Fortune 500 fintech FIS, which partnered with Avalanche-based Intain to tokenize loans, and the launch of the S&P Digital Markets 50 Index on Avalanche. This surge highlights the network’s growing role as a preferred infrastructure for TradFi institutions exploring blockchain innovation under a seemingly more receptive SEC.

Despite these powerful fundamental drivers, the AVAX token price told a different story, declining 59% in Q4 to end 2025 at $12.30. This downturn has continued into 2026, leaving AVAX down over 92% from its all-time high and markedly underperforming major assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum during the same period. The disconnect between robust network growth and token performance is a key narrative, underscoring that Avalanche real-world asset adoption has yet to translate into positive price momentum for its native cryptocurrency.

However, activity within Avalanche DeFi paints a brighter picture. The value locked in native DeFi, measured in AVAX, rose 34.5% in Q4, and daily transactions jumped 63% to 2.1 million. On the stablecoin front, Tether’s USDT overtook USDC to become the dominant stablecoin on the network. Looking ahead, the ecosystem anticipates potential tailwinds from recently filed spot Avalanche ETF applications, including the launch of VanEck’s product, which could bridge the gap between institutional adoption and retail investment interest in AVAX.

Short Summary:
Avalanche’s RWA tokenization ecosystem saw explosive 950% growth in 2025, driven by BlackRock and major TradFi partnerships. However, the AVAX token price significantly underperformed, highlighting a disconnect. Strong DeFi metrics and pending spot Avalanche ETFs could be crucial catalysts for aligning network success with token value.
